Zhouzheng is the most famous watercity in China, and well visited by tourist from all over the world. The town is conveniently located for a day visit from either Suzhou or Shanghai. Zhouzheng old town is the interesting place and absolutely not the city around the old town. From the bus station it is possible to rent a tricycle for 5 yuan to take you to the ticket sale and entrance to old Zhouzheng, which is surrounded by uniformed men who's job is to make sure that no tourist enter without paying the 60 rmb ticket. Despite the commercialization of old Zhouzhang and the vast number of tourists it is still a nice place to spend a day or maybe even stay overnight on your way between Shanghai or Suzhou. But we have heard that the nearby city of Tongli still is rather unspoilt and perhaps an even better place to make a stop.
